VI. Promotion

website marketing VI. Promotion

Now all this stuff starts coming together – and blowing up at the same time.

Originally, this section was the bulk of the book. Because online promotion is the only thing most people think Internet marketing is. And that’s the cutative approach they have to this subject.

While this chapter seems not so much longer than the others, I have 2 or 3 times as much material on what is covered here than wound up in the book.

Promotion is a buffet-style arrangement. Depending on your product, no two companies or individuals will promote a particular product the same way. You can choose whatever fits your talents – or whatever you’d like to try next.

Almost all of these have been around in some fashion or the other, but have been shifted over to the Internet and sped up immensely – usually given new names themselves as a result. But all the online actions you do can also be done offline.  Some products actually are promoted better off-line.

So this is where you can get incredibly creative. In fact, the more creative organizations are the most successful – not the most competitive.

Assignment:

1. Read, study, and take notes on this chapter.

2. Do any additional research you feel you need to, in order to best understand how to apply the promotion ideas you are most interested in applying.

3. Revise your marketing plan (or write one) which will accomplish your business plan’s goals. (Yes, these are two separate plans, usually. But they are integral to each other.)

4. Review the rest of the material you’ve covered up to this point, as I’ve touched on various points of this last chapter earlier in the book, in places.
