And here’s a very, very interesting section. I’m amazed at all the diverse stuff I threw in there.

But you see, I wasn’t going to repeat what the business text books tell you about how to make all these plans and so forth, your profit margins, various special (and specious) terminology from some Academic types who couldn’t run a lemonade stand profitably for charity.

What is in here is a great deal of material on how businesses operate regardless of what laws, regulations, or various special interest groups say they have to do. (Practically, all the above are grouped under “overhead” – and are dealt with by business until they get too onerous and the business reinvents itself the way that community, completely regardless of the government and special interests, want them to function.)

There is a great deal of material in this chapter about how to set your business website up. Tons, actually. So you can use what you can to improve your free blog, but see how having your own WordPress blog on your own web host can be much more efficient and powerful as a web presence.

Assignment:

1. Read and take careful notes as you go through the material. File these notes in your 3-ring binder.

2. Make your own business plan – what you want to do and how (don’t worry, this is always a work-in-progress, so just make it however it makes best sense to you.)

3. Update your existing blog with the material you’ve seen here. (If you own your own hosting, then see if some of this can’t help you improve what you have…)
